A long time guitarist and arranger for the Fields organization, the men remained close friends until Rene's death. Rene's first wife, Octavia "Baby" Renfro, lived in San Antonio, Texas until her death. His second wife Gertrude was a songwriter and producer who worked with him in Los Angeles. Finally, Rene Hall took Ernie Fields Jr--a multi-instrumentalist under his wing when the younger Fields came to Los Angeles around 1970. He is now a popular studio musician and music contractor.c. fieldsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3226924615283203864.post-57701706739420189252009-07-29T21:45:09.157-04:002009-07-29T21:45:09.157-04:00Aw, I searched for other blogs posting this 45 and...Aw, I searched for other blogs posting this 45 and it turns out you put this one up a month and a half before and with ten times as much information.

But here's a thing: his Wikipedia page says he's from Morgan City and cites a source that's no longer available.
