This week the Fang's phound foto comes with no information as to where and when it was taken, but judging by the hair do's and clothes I'd put it around '66. My guess is the two brunettes are in a band together, the two blondes their fans and/or groupies. There were plenty of girl groups back then-- the Liverbirds, Goldie & the Gingerbreads, the Belles, etc. who played their own instruments. Check out this website for
the Lady Birds who played topless!
Of course, these could just be college students who sang folk songs on the Quad between classes, but somehow I don't think so. What do you think?
Would this be the Millington sisters as babies?
ReplyDeleteYou know I emailed the Ladybirds person! I think the Fang needs to do a whole chicks w/guitars series.
ReplyDeleteLove this pic but i think they were probably local folkies who were probably playing a coffee joint. Maybe a place called "The Way Out".
ReplyDeleteI would say they're killing time before making their way to the Greenwich Village (or Carnegie Hall) to catch a Phil Ochs set.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to think at the very least they're trying to write a song as good as "M-E-L-V-I-N"
ReplyDeleteI think that's Mama Cass in the hat back there.
ReplyDeleteDoes this guitar make my butt look big?
ReplyDeletethis is beautiful, I can't believe no one knows who this is...
