Bo Diddley In The Studio

Quick, before they take it down again, check out this great Bo Diddley footage--

Welk Goes Latin from Debbie Fountain on Vimeo.

ADDENDUM: Well, I knew it would get pulled soon. On 9/19/09 it was yanked. I wish the person who was writing to the director (see comments) didn't! If you missed it, the Legend Of Bo Diddley is one of the greatest documentaries of all time, and hopefully it will be made available again. Keep an eye on this blog for more Bo Diddley soon....btw when will Bo's home made porno films surface? See Etta James' autobiography Rage To Live for more on that subject....

I believe this is from Gary Sherman's 1966's documentary The Legend Of Bo Diddley, info can be found at:
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060622/
But I might be wrong, anybody have any solid info on the footage?

  8. That Gary Sherman documentary has been tormenting me since I first found out about it. I thought maybe it'd come out when Bo kicked it upstairs, but so far no luck.

I've seen some of the footage in various documentaries featuring Marshall Chess, so I figure he must have a copy somewhere.

Gary Sherman went on to do some of the Poltergeist movies...

  9. This is great!

No safety features on those 45 presses.

The studio footage is priceless such great sound from very minimal equipment. Love how the engineer calls out the EV mikes he is using too.

  10. Gary Sherman lives here in Chicago. I've emailed him before and got a response. Shall I do so about this too...or leave it alone so that the video has a better chance of staying up?

You can e-mail him and not mention that it's up on the web, but inquire as to who actually owns the rights, a better copy would be nice to see or own....

  12. is this the same footage that was posted on the wfmu ichiban site? If so, it has been posted to soulseek for download, if anyone uses files sharing. look for it there. it's titled BO DIDDLEY PROMO FILM. the quality isn't that great, but its better than nothing!
